Our country is in the midst of a great period of change and emerging intact can only happen with the efforts of each and every citizenYou can do this by joining our civil society association (NGO) or assisting without becoming a member.

 

 

The prerequisites for becoming a member are as followsThank you for your interest.

 

 

Association Membership:

 

All persons who are legally competent and 18 years old who submit an application form may be a member via decision of the Board of Directors.

 

Kindly fill out the following membership form and member informaton form and forward to our Association.

 

Those who are not Turkish citizens, should be resident in Turkey.

 

Those academicians, professionals and businessmen who have demonstrated their strong support and assistance for the Association may be nominated for Honorary Membership.

 

Membership is entirely voluntary and any member has the right to resign from membership.

   

All Association members have equal rights.

 

Each member has one vote in the general membership meeting, and must attend the meeting in personHonorary Members have no vote.

 

Members are to deposit membership dues of 25 Million TL per year to one of  the Association’s bank accounts.

T S H D PRINCIPLES OF MEMBERSHIP ACCEPTANCE, QUALITIES SOUGHT IN OUR MEMBERS AND DUTIES EXPECTED OF MEMBERS

 

 

A-  MEMBERSHIP AND PRINCIPLES OF MEMBERSHIP ACCEPTANCE

 

1-  Members are accepted by application or by invitation

2-     Membership by InvitationThe Board of Directors may invite a person who is desirable as a member, and, upon acceptance, the normal membership procedure proceeds.

3-     Membership by ApplicationAny person who is legally competent may apply for membership with the written form and the reference of one current member, after which this is ocnsidered by the Application Evaluation Committee and forwarded for decision to the Board of Directors.       

4-     Honorary MembershipThose who contribute to the Associations aims, and who closely support its work or provide assistance, may be granted Honorary Membership with the recommendation of th Board of Directors to the General Membership Meeting for decision.  

5-     Membership of Legal PersonsThose official, quasi-official or commercial entities which accept the principles and programs of TSHD may be accepted as Association members upon the recommendation of the Membership Board and decision of the  Board of Directors.

6-     All members may resign from the Association. No one may be forced to remain a member.

7-     All association members have equal rights.

8-     Each member has one vote in the general membership meeting, and must attend the     

      meeting in personHonorary Members have no vote.

 

 

B- QUALITIES SOUGHT IN OUR MEMBERS

 

1-  Hold the principles of a democratic and separation of church and state State and  of the Republic    

2-  Believe in the reforms brought about by Ataturk to establish a modern society and be prepared to protect them.

3-  Not involved in the past in corruption or taken bribe

4-  Have decided on struggling for a clean society and supporting efforts against corruption           

and bribery

5-  State that they have not taken or given bribes

6-  Have no cooperation give no suport and have no close relations with those who are

      involved in corruption and taking bribes.

7-  State that they will follow the Association Charter and the followingprinciples to be

      followed by members

 

 

C-   PRINCIPLES TO BE FOLLOWED BY TSHD MEMBERS

 

Since this is a non-political  non-government entity, members need to adhere to the following principles in order for us to be able to struggle against corruption and bribery to increase transparency in Turkey:

 

1-  Basic Values:  TSHD members should be against corruption and bribers and take an active role as volunteers to increase transparency in the country.

 

2- Responsibility to be Transparent and Accountabe:  TSHD members need to be careful of their actions and speech and in order to avoid conflict of interest, should be transparent and accountable in public regarding their membership in other entities, property ownership and income and expenditures.

 

3- Accepting Benefits:  TSH members may not accept any benefit for their services related to the Association’s activities and programs.

 

4-  Non-acceptance of gifts, entertainment, assistance and similar awards:   TSHD members may not accept any gifts, entertainment, assistance or similar award granted because of their status or any Association service which they provide.

 

5-Non-use of association information for private use:  TSHD members may not use any information belonging to the Association or related to its activities for their private benefit.

 

6-Conflict of InterestMembers may not sell goods or services to the Association through the companies which they ownThey may only freely give such goods or services to the Association.

 

7-ObjectivityIn the conduct of their official duties, Association members may have no ties with special interest groups.

 

8-   Placing Blame:   In the conduct of Association activities, Association members may not place blame on individual persons.

 

9-  Notification of OccurrancesIn the event that any Association member is blamed in a case of corruption or bribery that member will notify TSHD  

           

10-IncomeAny income stemming from a meeting, attendance, speech or course to a Member must be deposited into the bank account of TSHD.

 

11-Use of Association PropertyAssociation  property may not be used for any personal reason, only for Association activities.

 

12-Maintaining DisciplineIn the event that a member does not follow the above rules, the Board of Directors makes a recommendation and the Discipline Board sets a punishment within the parameters of the Charter.

 

 

D-  DUTIES EXPECTED OF MEMBERS

 

 1-     Association members are obliged to pay the entrance dues set by the Board of Directors and the annual dues determined by the General Membership meeting.

 

If dues are not paid for two years in a row, membership is cancelledThe person may reapply for membership   

 

2-     Apart from the entrance dues and annual membership dues any monies granted to the Association for its activities are entirely on a voluntary basis.

 

3-     Association members will promote the Associations’s views in other NGOs, universities, press and other civil groups.

 

4-  In their activities Association members should display respectablility in order to further the work of the Association and its respectability and effectiveness among the public and well represent the Association, and protect it. 

       

5- Members will make every attempt to increase public awareness by sending letters to the press, attending meetings and other ways to put forward the views of the Association.

 

6- Association members will forward to Association headquarters articles which have appeared in the press and other information such as research papers in order to create an information data bank.

 

7-     News related to corruption and bribery appearing in the news will be forwarded to the Association General Secretariat and to other members.

 

8-     Association members will avoid any activities, actions and speeches which detract from the respectability of the Association in the eyes of the public and will act in a cooperative and constructive manner within the Association.

 

These rules were accepted by the Board of Directors in Decision 111 on 15 August 2001.
