IDENTITY, PRINCIPLES AND AIMS

IF HONORABLE CITIZENS ARE NOT AS BRAVE AS DISHONORABLE ONES

THAT COUNTRY CANNOT BE SAVED

                                                                İsmet İnönü

2nd President, Republic of Turkey

Everyday the rhyme “Public Wealth is an ocean; those who don’t eat it are fools.” is gaining currency as corruption is continuously increasing in a period of our historywhen the goal of getting rich surpasses all others. This is a period when people of good Commitment approved by will and morals are ridiculed, considered Turkish Parliament incapable, and the voices of the good are drowned out by the voices of the bad.

The Civil Transparency Movement Association (TSHD) was founded in 1996 to reduce to the minimum the negative effects of this bad period. The goal of the Association is to reach a clean and transparent way of life. To do this, it is necessary to ensure that all kinds of public power both in the center and on the local level are prevented from being abused, and to rid political, social and economic activities of all types of corruption with putting them in the public eye and increasing awareness.

The Civil Transparency Movement Association is dedicated to following up on developments in public transparency in our country and in other countries and study political, economic, administrative and moral counter-measures and increase public awareness.

Harmony is public life and unhampered freedom are directly linked to the rights and freedoms of individuals. In order to ensure this, All organs and tenets of democracy have to work, people have to be informed of how the government functions, we have to get rid of all types of information gaps, and regulations have to apply to all equally.

When these prerequisites are in place, you can have a transparent civil society. That is why “individual freedom” “democratic systems” and “government of law” are the building blocks of a transparent society. The Civil Transparency Movement Association will work toward getting these building blocks in place.

The aims of the Civil Transparency Movement Association are not to " Blame-Investigate-Find guilty " It is a civil society organization designed to scientifically research the solutions to problems. Its concentration is on systems, not on the names of individuals. Our basic aim is to get our country to move toward a modern system of morals as soon as possible.

Therefore, assuming that morals are at the zero level and knowing that we have to rebuild is why

· Education on moral values within the family

· Morale education in primary school

are vital. The work must start at the beginning. Raising up the civil moral system in this country will not be an easy or accomplished in a short period. The important thing is to develop the civil moral system before it gets worse. This requires the cooperation of all individuals and organizations. And, the greatest barrier to success is the lack of sincerity of individuals and organizations. We expect your help and support in clearing this barrier.

We invite all organizations and the public to join with The Civil Transparency Movement Association (THSD) for a clean society and a clean government administration.

       LESSON ON CLEAN POLITICS FROM

PRIME MINISTER ADNAN MENDERES

Deceased Prime Minister Adnan Menderes asked his son after he completed his education:

"What do you plan to do?"

When the response was "Father, I intend to go into business", Menderes said

"With what money, what kind of work will you do?"

His son said "Many people have given me business proposals.  They will put up the capital"....

Father Menderes's advice to his son on this subject is like a lesson to today's politicians:

"Whoever proposes business ventures to you, are actually trying to give money to me.  As the son of a Prime Minister you cannot go into business.  Since you have studied out of the country, take the Foreign Service examination and be a diplomat.

    ------------------------------------

TSHD's note:  Menderes's son took his father's advice.  He became a diplomat.  Throughout his life his name was never soiled with corruption.
